Osibajo commiserates with victims of Lekki shootings and violence across Nigeria

by Church Times

Vice President Yemi Osibajo has expressed deep concern over those who lost their lives in the Lekki shootings and those who died or were injured in the violence of the last two days.

He expressed his heartfelt concern in a   tweet on October 21 where he states  “My heart goes out to all the victims of the Lekki shootings, and also the policemen and all other men and women who lost their lives in the past few days in different parts of Lagos & other states.”

Osibajo said the losses are definitely irreparable in another tweet around 12.35 am on October 22.  His words, I spoke to some of those in hospital. The pain of these terrible events is palpable in our towns and cities, and some losses are irreplaceable, but we can and will get justice for all of them. I stand with Lagos & all other affected states in these trying times.”

The tweet has since been generating a lot of responses shortly after he made it. A respondent, Oluwatobi Alli called for his resignation saying he was earlier pretending not to be aware of the Lekki killings.

Another respondent Alex Molak says, “again, you have beat my imagination with your empathetic and fatherly words. With you, at the helm, we know we will get to the Promise Land. God Bless You, Sir”

Prayer Odede another person who responded to the post writes, “justice delayed is justice denied. Unraveling/punishing before all those who sent the killers should be immediate. Buhari addressing the nation or handing over as soon as possible. This is the only way to convince these angry youths that all will be well. BURUTAI should go.”

Teslim Idowu in his own response wrote, “Esther 4:14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

The tweet had been retweeted for about 5,500 retweets in less than an hour it was posted
