Apostle tackles Adeboye over Akindayomi-Adeboye intensive care centre

Akindayomi-Adeboye Intensive Care Centre

An apostle, Jacob Omotosho has picked hole in the dual naming of the intensive care centre donated by the Redeemed Christian Church of God to the University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital, Ondo on April 29.

Akindayomi-Adeboye Intensive Care Centre was built by His Love Foundation of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) as part of the church’s Christian Social Responsibility (CSR).

The centre was commissioned by the governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu.

Akeredolu reportedly said at the commissioning of the intensive care centre that the centre will prevent many avoidable deaths while it will also bring healthcare closer to the people.

But Apostle Omotosho who described the donation as a good development said the naming of the centre after Pa Akindayomi and Adeboye does not augur well.

Omotosho who aired his views in a YouTube video monitored by Church Times said the naming is ambiguous. He noted that in the future, it will be hard to really know who these two figures are.

Pa. Akindayomi, whose full name is Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi is the founder of the RCCG. Pastor Enoch  Adejare Adeboye took over the running of the church from him in 1981 after Akindayomi’s demise in 1980.

Apostle Omotosho who spoke in vernacular in the YouTube video said the dual name on the project does not give proper honour to the founder of the church.

“It is either the project is named Pa Josiah Akindayomi Intensive Care Centre or Pastor Enoch Adeboye Intensive Care Centre. The two names on the project do not augur well,” he said.

While noting that Pastor Adeboye perhaps was not properly advised on the naming of the centre, he said, “The church should know that the name Akindayomi is generic. Many people bear the name. It will get to a time that nobody will trace the name to the founder of the RCCG. Some will even think it is the other name of Pastor Adeboye. The right thing is to name it fully after Akindayomi or fully after Adeboye”

In many other videos, Omotosho had alleged that the children of the founder are not well taken care of.

He had also alleged that the founder of the  Church, Pa Akindayomi has not been given his rightful place of honour in the church.

Though RCCG has not responded to the continuous social media bashing by Apostle Omotosho; some people believe the recent donation by the church is a way of further immortalising the name; Akindayomi.
