Anglican Church holds online funeral service for late Ijebu Bishop

Bishop Awosoga: Virtual funeral Service holds May 23

The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion will on May 23 hold an online funeral service for the Bishop of Ijebu Diocese, Rt. Rev Dr. Ayodele Awosoga who died on February 9 in the US after a protracted illness.

This is because of government regulation as result of covid-19. Physical attendance is restricted to only select family members while others will hook up online on available social media platforms.

Awosoga who was billed for retirement December 2020.  He was elected Bishop of the Diocese of Ijebu on January 28, 2005.

By the time of his death in February 2020 he had put in about 15 years in the service of the Church of Nigeria as Bishop. Before his election as Bishop he was provost of the Cathedral of Our Saviour, Ijebu.
